Combine
a winter getaway with some great outdoor activity in a pristine
wilderness setting. Shannondale offers visitors 20 kilometers of well-groomed trails at three clearly
marked levels of difficulty. Skate ski enthusiasts will also enjoy trails designed specifically for them. A trail has also been designated for hikers
and snowshoe enthusiasts. |
The
newly finished Warm-up Cabin is easily reached by visitors of all
levels of ability, a half mile from the trailhead. The sheltered
situation, large south-facing windows and cosy wood stove will quickly
restore you on even the coldest days.
|
 |
 |
While
there, enjoy a snack and chat with some like-minded folks. The trip
back to the trailhead may be enough exercise for some. For the more
adventurous, the trails ahead offer all the fun and challenge you
are looking for.
|
| You
may have the good fortune to sight deer, beaver, interesting birds
and other wildlife. And, while you are visiting Shannondale, you
will probably run across Dave Lumgair (email
Dave), custodian of this natural paradise. He is usually ready
for a chat, exchange of information, and maybe even a kilometer
or two on the trail with you. |
 |
|
There
is no charge to use these private trails. A donation, however, is
appropriate to help defray the costs of maintaining Shannondale. You'll
see the donation box near the trailhead. |
