A writer's workshop was held the first weekend of
July 2008, ably facilitated by Dorothy Tovell of
the University of Alberta.
Themes the group covered included:
- Branching
points in one’s life
- Family
- Work
- Spirituality
- Money
- Goals
and aspirations
“If you can talk, you can write. Writing
is a tool for exploring our life. Life can only be understood backwards,
but it must be lived forwards. Knowing about where I have been helps
me know more about where I want to go. Guided auto-biography is
a self-enlightening experience. It took me down paths of self-discovery
I had not expected to wander.”
The group's
enthusiasm was shown by their expressed desire to meet again to
ensure the writing goes on.
We are looking
at the possibility of offering the Writer's Retreat again in 2009.
Scholarships again will be available. We
are open to bartering. Call if this tweaks your interest.
